Knotted Connections
Material Exploration · Wearable Form
Knotted Connections explores the possibilities of rope as both material and structure. Created through a process of hand-knotting and experimentation, the piece investigates how simple strands can be transformed into an interconnected form that exists between garment and sculpture.
The work is shaped by repetition, tension, and movement. Through the accumulation of knots, a flexible material gradually develops its own structure, creating a form that responds to the body while remaining independent from it. Open spaces, loose ends, and asymmetrical compositions become part of the visual language, allowing the body and the object to interact with one another.
Positioned between textile practice and wearable art, the piece reflects an interest in material-led making and the relationship between body, form, and space. Rather than functioning as a conventional garment, it explores how handcrafted structures can frame, extend, and redefine the silhouette of the body.
